Actor Shweta Tripathi has reflected on her theatre journey as she prepares to return to the stage this month. Starting her career in backstage production before transitioning to performance, Tripathi first met actor Ali Fazal on stage at Thespo, a platform she describes as a significant milestone in her artistic development.

Thespo proved instrumental in building her creative network. Tripathi shared that her theatre company, AllMyTea, was formed as a direct result of the people and experiences gathered at the platform. Collaborators like Akarsh, whom she met during this phase, played an important role in supporting and building the company.

When her play Cock was selected for the Prithvi Theatre Festival, her association with the festival deepened. Through her theatre journey, she witnessed actors including Nimrat Kaur and Neil Bhoopalam perform on stage for the first time at Prithvi Theatre. She expressed pride in seeing these artists grow within the industry’s creative community.

Reflecting on her early exposure to theatre, Tripathi recalled starting to perform as early as kindergarten and spending her summers attending theatre workshops. She credited witnessing actor Yashpal Sharma perform live as one of her earliest influential memories, an actor she would later work with in the film Kaalkoot. On the impact theatre has had on her, Tripathi stated, “I genuinely feel theatre has shaped who I am, not just as an actor, but as a person. It taught me discipline, empathy, and the ability to truly connect. I love it deeply, I respect it immensely, and it continues to excite me, whether I experience it as an actor, a producer, or simply as an audience member.”

As she prepares to return to the stage this month, Tripathi carries that same sense of belonging and discovery as she readies to once again experience theatre, this time as a performer stepping back into the spotlight.
