“The heist of the century is always better as a family affair.” Prime Video and Gaumont have revealed the first look teaser trailer for an art heist comedy called Masterplan, a brand new feature film going out on streaming later this year. The French-Italian Prime Original film follows a legendary thief who recruits two young strangers to help him steal the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in Paris, before revealing that he is their father. Thrown into a chaotic reunion they never asked for, this new family must learn to work together—and try not to kill each other—if they want any chance at pulling off the heist of the century. The heist? The Mona Lisa, though perhaps there’s more trickery going on. Stanley Tucci stars as the art thief Roger, along with Simona Tabasco as Chiara and Victor Belmondo and Jay. Filmed around France & Italy, of course. This is skipping theaters and heading directly to streaming in October, which seems like the right fit for it from this footage. I hope they actually pull off the heist! Very curious to see how they’ll outsmart the Louvre.
