New anime series Though I Am an Inept Villainess is based on the light novel series of the same name, and has now started airing episodes weekly on Crunchyroll.
The series follows a group of unmarried women who are trained to become the next generation of queens, including princess Kou Reirin, who is known as a “butterfly” for her beauty and kindness.
She is beloved, while Shu Keigetsu, another of the princesses is hated, and known as the “court sewer rat”. Because of this, Keigetsu uses magic to swap their bodies.
The synopsis for the series says: “With a looming execution, Reirin embraces her new, healthy body, while Keigetsu learns Reirin’s life isn’t what it seems as she’s pulled into an inner-court conspiracy.”
