Twinkle Khanna celebrated her 52nd birthday in an unconventional way this year, trading candles and cake for an aromatic experience in Marrakech with her family. The author and former Bollywood actor shared moments from her special day on social media, revealing that she and husband Akshay Kumar spent part of the celebration at a perfume museum and crafted their own signature scents.

In an Instagram post, Twinkle outlined how the family’s celebration unfolded at the Musée du Parfum. “This year instead of blowing out candles, my birthday celebration entailed a lot of sniffing around,” she wrote, explaining that the venue offered them a sensory exploration of exotic fragrances. They encountered more than 50 bottles with notes ranging from vetiver and caramel to oud and amber.

Given the immersive setting, each member of the family had the opportunity to blend a personalized fragrance from the essences they enjoyed. Twinkle named her creation “Birthday Note.” “Scents carry memories, and this one will follow me to airports, old sweaters, and days when I want to remember my birthday in Marakesh,” she added, highlighting the emotional resonance the experience held for her.

Twinkle and Akshay have been married since January 2001 and share two children, son Aarav and daughter Nitara. Beyond her social media posts and public life, Twinkle has forged a successful path as a writer. Her debut book Mrs Funnybones was published in 2015, and she has since authored several other titles, including Pyjamas Are Forgiving and Welcome to Paradise.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is currently engaged with multiple film projects. His upcoming slate includes Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan and co-starring Tabu and Paresh Rawal, along with titles such as Welcome to the Jungle, Haiwaan and Hera Pheri 3.
