Manchester City host Europa League winners Aston Villa for what looks set to be the final game of the Pep Guardiola era.
It has been reported that Guardiola will leave the Etihad Stadium after 10 trophy-laden seasons and he will want to depart on a high, despite falling short in the Premier League title race.
Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth, which came hot on the heels of last weekend’s FA Cup triumph, had City waving the white flag in their bid to catch Arsenal at the top of the table.
Villa also lifted silverware in the last week after Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat of Freiburg saw them capture the Europa League. It capped off a cracking campaign for Unai Emery’s side, who will play in next season’s Champions League, and the Spanish boss could ring the changes due to the quick turnaround.
Fans of Bournemouth and Brighton will be hoping for a City victory to increase the chances of Villa finishing fifth in the table thus securing Champions League football for the team that ends sixth.
