The revamped series of Balamory has been commissioned for a third and fourth season after its long-awaited return 21 years after it first launched onto our screens.
The iconic children’s television programme, which originally ran between 2002 and 2005 and centres on a fictional small island community off the west coast of Scotland, made a comeback to CBeebies last month.
The commission news comes after the first episode of the revival series amassed 1.5 million viewers in 28 days – a rating which marks the biggest new CBeebies episode of 2026.
Kate Morton, senior head of commissioning for CBeebies, said: “Balamory has always been about community, creativity and helping children understand the world around them. Seeing it return and connect so strongly with audiences, both those discovering it for the first time and those who remember it so fondly, has been incredibly special.
“This recommission is a testament to the enduring power of children’s media make lasting memories and promote kindness, inclusion and togetherness.”

The revival was commissioned for two seasons back in 2024, with the second run set to air later this year.
Returning cast members included Julie Wilson Nimmo (Miss Hoolie), Andrew Agnew (PC Plum), Kim Tserkezie (Penny Pocket) and Juliet Cadzow (Edie McCredie).
Meanwhile, new addictions to the cast included scientist and inventor Ava Potts (Danielle Jam), local vet Dr Ollie (Carl Spencer), and the Harbour Master (William Andrews).
