The trailer of Bandar starring Bobby Deol has already started conversations online, with many viewers discussing the film’s underlying themes and social messaging. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the upcoming project appears to explore emotional trauma, social perception, and the treatment of men in society, leading to divided reactions across social media.

Bandar triggers online debate as equal rights activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj and director Ruchi Narain clash
Known for using layered and symbolic film titles, Anurag Kashyap reportedly chose the title Bandar with a deeper meaning connected to the story and characters. While the trailer has generated curiosity among audiences, discussions around the film have quickly moved beyond cinema and into larger conversations about gender, emotional abuse, and societal expectations.
Reacting to the trailer and the film’s apparent theme, equal rights activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj voiced support for the project on social media. According to her, many men silently suffer due to false accusations, emotional humiliation, and public ridicule, but their pain is often ignored or mocked.
Finally somebody in Bollywood gathered the spine to show reality & spark a conversation society has conveniently buried for years – the silent destruction countless men are enduring behind closed doors because of false accusations !!!

Sharing her thoughts online, Deepika stated that society has normalised mocking men to such an extent that their emotional abuse, harassment, humiliation, and mental breakdowns are rarely taken seriously. She further expressed that films like Bandar are important in today’s time because they open discussions around issues many people hesitate to acknowledge publicly.
Her statements quickly sparked reactions online, with some users agreeing that conversations around men’s emotional well-being deserve more attention, while others criticised the argument and questioned the broader narrative being presented.
Filmmaker Ruchi Narain also reacted to Deepika’s claims and offered a contrasting perspective. Responding through social media, Ruchi argued that Bollywood has historically shown greater protection toward men than women.
According to Ruchi Narain, women in the industry are often left unsupported because they are not always visible in positions of power or influence. Her response added another layer to the debate, with many social media users discussing whether the entertainment industry has truly offered equal support and representation to both genders.
The ongoing discussion surrounding Bandar highlights how films today often become a starting point for larger social conversations beyond entertainment. Even before its release, the Bobby Deol starrer has managed to create strong discourse online regarding gender dynamics, emotional vulnerability, and representation in mainstream storytelling.
With Anurag Kashyap known for tackling socially complex subjects through unconventional narratives, audiences are now curious to see how Bandar approaches these themes when the film finally releases.
