The trailer of Karakkam, billed as Malayalam cinema’s first musical horror comedy, was launched on Wednesday in Kochi, and released through Mammootty Kampany’s official social media handles ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release on May 28.

Produced by Krownstars Entertainment and Black Turtle Productions, Karakkam blends horror, humour, music and supernatural elements. The trailer introduces a group of youngsters whose lives spiral into chaos after an encounter with mysterious spirits, setting up a story that moves between suspense and comedy. The film follows the director’s earlier work Charles Enterprises, which also explored myth and fantasy through a comic lens.
The soundtrack and background score are composed by Sam C. S., whose recent Malayalam single ‘Ore Yathrayil‘ from the film has already drawn attention online. Lyrics for the songs are penned by Anwar Ali, Vinayak Sasikumar, Muhsin Parari, Hareesh Mohanan and Su. The screenplay is written by Nipin Narayanan, Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian and Arjun Narayanan, based on a story by Dhanush Varghese.
Directed by Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian, Karakkam is produced by Ankush Singh and Kimberly Trinidade under the banners of Krownstars Entertainment and Black Turtle Productions. The cast includes Sreenath Bhasi, Femina George, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Sidharth Bharathan, Shaun Romy, Bijukuttan, Manikandan R. Achari and Midhutty. Bablu Aju is the cinematographer and Nithin Arol the editor, with Rajesh P. Velayudhan as art director, Aravind Menon as sound mixing engineer and Sync Cinema handling sound design. The film releases worldwide in cinemas on May 28.
