Drishyam 3 is all set to release tomorrow, May 21, and the excitement is tremendous. Thanks to the goodwill of the franchise, the subject and the presence of Mohanlal, the film has emerged as one of the most awaited Malayalam releases of all time. Outside Kerala, the film is being distributed by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak’s Panorama Studios, and Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned that the studio has gone all out with the release strategy.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Drishyam 3 will release in nearly 1200 cinemas across Kerala and the rest of India. The film will be released in its original Malayalam version, along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. The makers and Panorama Studios have realized the massive potential of the film and have ensured that it gets the widest possible reach.”

The source further added, “Overseas, the film is set for an even bigger release, with more than 1500 screens. It will be released in as many as 66 countries. In short, Drishyam 3 will have a worldwide release of around 2700 screens.”

With these numbers, Drishyam 3 is easily among the biggest-ever releases for a Malayalam film in its original and dubbed versions. The advance booking has also been phenomenal. As per trade sources, the film has already recorded ticket sales worth around Rs. 30 crores and is now eyeing the Rs. 35 crore mark before release.

The trade is now expecting a thunderous opening. In fact, Drishyam 3 is expected to register one of the biggest openings ever for a Malayalam film, second only to the Mohanlal-Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer L2 Empuraan (2025).

Drishyam 3 stars Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath and others. It is written and directed by Jeethu Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor. The first part, Drishyam, released in 2013 and went on to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time back then. The second part, Drishyam 2, released directly on Amazon Prime Video in 2021 due to COVID-related restrictions and received tremendous acclaim.

Hence, expectations for the third part are sky-high. With the advance booking trends, franchise pull and a record-sized release, Drishyam 3 seems all set for an earth-shattering start at the worldwide box office.
