The industry and social media have been abuzz with the controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh’s reported exit from Don 3. Producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have reportedly asked the actor to compensate them with Rs. 45 crores, as his sudden exit allegedly led to financial losses. At the trailer launch of Governor, lead actor Manoj Bajpayee shared his views on the matter. During an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, we asked producer Vipul Shah to comment on the episode.

EXCLUSIVE: Vipul Shah reacts to Ranveer Singh’s reported Don 3 exit and Rs. 45 cr compensation row: “Without knowing the facts, passing judgment would be injustice to them”
Vipul Shah said, “I have no view because we don’t know what has happened between the two parties. There’s no blanket rule and every situation is unique. Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani are very senior people with huge experience. Moreover, they enjoy a great reputation in the industry. So, without knowing the facts, if anybody shares their views, they are doing injustice to the situation and to all three of them. I wish it gets settled very nicely and peacefully because it’s a wonderful project. I am sure there are reasons behind whatever has happened. But until I get to know the real reasons, I will not pass any judgment.”
Future plans and TV journey
When asked about his future projects, Vipul Shah said that he is currently busy with Hisaab and Samuk. “These are the only two films. Samuk will consume a lot of time and we want to make it in the best possible way. Hence, Hisaab and Samuk are the only two films in our pipeline,” he said.
Before making his mark in films, Vipul Shah had become a prominent name on television. His daily soap Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka was a rage in the pre-Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi era. The show featured some of the biggest names from the Gujarati entertainment industry, many of whom continue to do well even today, including Rajeev Mehta, Apara Mehta, Manoj Joshi, Supriya Pathak and Deven Bhojani, to name a few.
When asked if he would ever like to return to television, Vipul Shah explained, “TV has changed quite dramatically. I don’t know if I can fit into this new television world, but if I can, I would love to do it. I have been a product of television and have huge respect for the medium. However, I should be able to do justice to whatever I take up. If I can’t make something that will work, then everyone will be disappointed – the audience as well as the platform. There are certain things happening on TV which I don’t think I am capable of writing. So, I don’t want to attempt something that I am not good at.”
Vipul Shah also fondly remembered Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka. He said, “It was a lovely show. I am happy I made it. Aisa kuch banane ka mauka mile toh banana chahiye. Otherwise, just because there’s a trend of certain things, I would not jump on the bandwagon. I’d rather do what I feel I can do justice to.”
