Apple TV’s alternate history drama For All Mankind has been one of the most consistently high-quality shows of the decade – but all good things must come to an end.

The series imagines what might have occurred if humanity had remained solely focused on its expansion into the stars, with recent seasons imagining the establishment of a Mars colony (and the complications that inevitably brings).
Now, co-creators Ronald D Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi’s original vision is coming to fruition, with a final entry that will see For All Mankind’s vastly different world catch up with our own in the 2020s.
While longtime viewers will be gutted to see the show bow out, the launch of Soviet-focused spin-off Star City is a welcome sweetener, with the Anna Maxwell Martin-led spin-off attracting rave reviews so far.
If you can’t get enough of this richly developed world, here’s everything we know so far about For All Mankind season 6.
For All Mankind season 6 release date speculation

For All Mankind has been renewed for a sixth and final season on Apple TV, but there’s been not yet been any confirmation of a premiere date for the concluding episodes.
Notably, the show has kept a consistent pace throughout its run, turning around its ambitious seasons within approximately 14 months of the previous finale.
In this case, season 5 ended in late May 2026, which means that a launch date in July or August 2027 seems plausible if that schedule persists. This is just speculation for now, though.
We’ll update this page when concrete plans emerge for the release of For All Mankind season 6.
For All Mankind season 6 cast: Who could star?

For All Mankind season 6 will be missing arguably the show’s most famous face, but many other key players will reprise their role for the final chapter.
The long-running sci-fi drama made headlines in its fifth chapter by killing off Ed Baldwin, as played by Detective Hole and Peacemaker star Joel Kinnaman, who had been a leading figure on the show since it began.
Of course, it isn’t the first time that For All Mankind has said farewell to a major figure, but the impact of this particular departure drove home that the story is reaching its ultimate conclusion.
Fortunately, there are plenty of other familiar faces who could reprise their roles in the sixth season – here’s an overview of the key players in For All Mankind looking forward:
- Wrenn Schmidt as Margo Madison
- Coral Peña as Aleida Rosales
- Edi Gathegi as Dev Ayesa
- Toby Kebbell as Miles Dale
- Mireille Enos as Celia Boyd
- Sean Kaufman as Alex Poletov Baldwin
- Ruby Cruz as Lily Dale
- Ines Asserson as Avery ‘AJ’ Jarrett
For All Mankind season 6 plot: What could happen next?
For All Mankind season 6 plot details are few and far between right now, but co-creators Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi have assured that they will “finish the story the way we’ve always hoped”.
Indeed, in a pop culture landscape marred by poorly thought-out final seasons and countless unresolved cliffhangers, it’s a relief that For All Mankind has an ending that is both mapped out and fully funded. Here’s hoping it sticks the landing!
“I think from the beginning, the thing that we were focused on… was that we wanted to reach the present day,” teased Wolpert (via Variety).
“We wanted to tell the arc of the story from the initial divergence of 1969, and then reach the present moment, and see just how different the world we’re in now could have been had we kept pushing for progress and kept pushing forward as a species.”
Nedivi added: “It’s one thing to get this far. It’s another thing to say that early roadmap is still our roadmap, which is not to say we haven’t diverged and gone away from certain things and lost people. But we’re still on that map, and it’s been an incredible journey.
“I think the ending’s gonna be something else.”
