Get Millie Black star Chyna McQueen has revealed that a second season of the show is “being discussed”.

The Channel 4 series follows title character Millie-Jean Black (Tamara Lawrance), a Jamaican-born Briton who returns to her hometown of Kingston, Jamaica, after leaving behind her job as a Scotland Yard detective.
She is then reunited with her sister Hibiscus (McQueen) as they become entangled in a case that threatens to alter their lives.
When asked by Deadline about the possibility of a season 2, McQueen said: “It’s not in the works yet, but it’s being discussed, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed, and everyone should keep their fingers crossed too.”
Created by writer Marlon James, Get Millie Black aired last year to strong reviews and a positive reception from audiences, with McQueen recently securing a BAFTA TV Award nomination in the best supporting actress category.
The nomination makes McQueen the first Black transgender performer to be nominated for a TV BAFTA.
She explained that she “really wasn’t expecting that”, adding: “I just got a call in the morning on nominations day from Simon Maxwell, the producer, who said, ‘Chyna, you’ve been nominated.’ I said, ‘Nominated for what?’ And they told me BAFTA.
“I still can’t believe it. I’m trying to process it, like, all of this can happen in just a few days.”
Speaking to Radio Times ahead of the show’s debut last year, Millie star Lawrance spoke about her hopes for a potential second season and noted that “there are so many more things to explore”.
She told us: “If we were to get a season 2, where is Millie’s mental health going to be at? What is she going to use to distract herself? Is she going to be somebody that is going to start confronting the things she needs to confront or is there going to be another case that suddenly takes front and centre so that she can avoid all of those things?
“I think the Hibiscus storyline is massively open-ended; where is she? What happened to her and will Hibiscus ever forgive Millie for abandoning her a second time?
“Also, the Lindo storyline – Lindo escaped, and so there is still so much to explore there in terms of that ring within the UK and the continuing relationship between former colonies and Britain.”
