HBO has released the final trailer for House of the Dragon season 3, offering the most dramatic look yet at the next chapter in the Game of Thrones preque.

After season 2 left its rival factions on the brink of war, the new footage suggests there will be no more holding back.
The trailer is packed with dragon fire, political scheming and battlefield carnage, as Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) looks to press her claim to the Iron Throne while her enemies gather strength around her.
But while war now feels inevitable, Rhaenyra still appears determined to retain some control over the bloodshed. In one key moment from the trailer, she declares: “We’ll secure the city without further bloodshed,” seemingly referring to King’s Landing.
Whether that ambition survives contact with the reality of civil war remains to be seen.

The trailer also hints at further strain between Rhaenyra and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cookie), with Alicent heard asking: “Did I not warn you that you would come to this?”.
Season 3 is expected to open with the long-awaited Battle of the Gullet, a major naval conflict involving Corlys Velaryon’s fleet, the Triarchy and, inevitably, dragons.
The sequence has already been talked up as one of House of the Dragon’s most ambitious set pieces to date, with showrunner Ryan Condal describing the season 3 premiere as “arguably the craziest episode of television ever made”.

Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra, has also teased the pace of the new run, telling Entertainment Weekly: “The series this time around starts at 60 miles an hour.”
Ewan Mitchell, who plays Aemond Targaryen, was similarly direct about what fans should expect, saying: “It’s all-out war… It’s just a blitz straight out of the gate.”
That will no doubt come as welcome news to viewers who felt season 2 spent more time arranging the pieces than knocking them down. This time, the pieces are moving – and the trailer suggests that once the fighting begins, there may be no easy way back for either Team Black or Team Green…
