Rick and Morty are returning for new adventures imminently, with a brand new home for UK-based viewers.

The animated series, following sociopathic grandpa Rick (Ian Cardoni) and his long-suffering grandson Morty (Harry Belden), continues to draw crowds, with co-creator Dan Harmon recently announcing that a feature film version is in the works.
But first, the ninth season is here to delight and disgust, with the official synopsis promising that the latest run is “all certified bangers” and “no AI slop”.
It continued: “Just Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts. Please watch, or we’ll have neglected our families for nothing.”
If you’re excited for more from one of the most impactful animated shows of this generation, then read on for all your essential details on how to watch Rick and Morty season 9 in the UK.

Rick and Morty season 9 will be available exclusively on HBO Max UK from Monday 25 May 2026, marking a major change to the show’s recent release strategy.
Between seasons 4 and 8, starting from 2020, the animated series had debuted new episodes in the UK on E4 and Channel 4 (online), which held a window of exclusivity, before they would eventually migrate to Netflix.
However, since the long-awaited launch of HBO Max in the UK, Warner Bros. has taken back its flagship animated show and all other Adult Swim programming to host on their own streaming platform.
Rick and Morty season 9 will, therefore, be exclusive to HBO Max for the time being. Seasons 1-8 are currently still available on Netflix, but it’s unclear whether the ninth will join them.
Like Channel 4, Netflix has also been impacted by the HBO Max launch, with the heavily rewatched sitcom Friends leaving the platform (after more than a decade) to make a new home at the rival streamer.
This is, unfortunately, the nature of the late-stage streaming wars, where shows move or disappear entirely with little warning, and the total number of subscriptions required is more than you can count with two hands.
In a sign that the market is reaching critical mass, Sky has started offering a combined subscription deal, dubbed the ‘ultimate TV package‘, which includes Sky TV, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Hayu and Discovery Plus. You can find more on that here.
