There have certainly been a lot of bumps in the road for Coop (Jon Hamm) in this season of Your Friends and Neighbours.

Not only has there been continued turmoil in his own personal life with his family, but he’s continued to face the looming presence of new neighbour Owen (James Marsden). Owen clocked onto Coop’s illegal side quests pretty early on in the season and has since been an unshakeable addition to Coop’s life, for better or worse.
Teasing what’s to come in the final episode of Your Friends and Neighbours, Jon Hamm told Radio Times: “Obviously the whole second season is dealing with the fallout of the first season, especially as it relates to Sam and Coop. But also, Coop and Mel, his wife and children.
“As well as what ends up being this new reverberation in the community, represented by Owen Ashe, James Marsden’s character. So suffice to say, things don’t go as planned over the course of the second season and the end of the second season is a very challenging hurdle for Coop and the rest to kind of clear.”

With the central mystery of the first season revolving around the death of Sam’s husband Paul’s (Jordan Gelber) death and Coop’s newfound career as a thief, things haven’t gotten any easier in season 2 as Sam is a pariah in Westmont Village and Coop is struggling with his own plethora of problems.
With the addition of Owen, it’s simply adding fuel to the fire of an already joyfully chaotic season.
Commenting on the introduction of Owen this season, Hamm also told Radio Times: “Yeah, the addition of Mr Marsden has been great. He’s obviously a wonderful actor. I’ve known Jimmy for years, we worked together on 30 Rock, believe it or not. And he is a tremendous addition to the cast, especially as it relates to someone who is very much set up as an antagonist to Coop directly, as you say.
“Not only Coop dealing with that but the larger neighbourhood having to deal with this massive disruptor dropped right in the middle of it is a nice way to set up what ends up being a pretty profound disruption.”
Things continue to be at a crossroads for many of our characters so it’s a good thing that the series has already been renewed for season 3. The show landed an early series renewal even before the season 2 premiere so fans can rest easy knowing that whatever likely cliffhanger things will be left on, will surely be picked back up in the show’s third outing.
