“A long-held dream to do an entire film on IMAX.” 🎥 Now that dream is realized. IMAX has revealed their own epic 4-min featurette for Nolan’s The Odyssey, the first-ever feature shot entirely on IMAX cameras. This promo reveals everything and dives in fully to exploring how Christopher Nolan shot this film entirely with IMAX cameras, including discussing how loud they are which is why they finally invented the “blimp” which fits over the camera to stop the sound. Of course it’s a MUST to see this movie at least once in IMAX properly. Nolan’s take on Homer’s iconic ancient Greek poem, The Odyssey is a mythic action thriller shot across the world bringing this foundational saga to life grander than ever. The story follows Odysseus in his perilous, long journey home after the Trojan War, encountering Polyphemus, the Sirens, Circe, eventually with his reunion with his wife, Penelope, on the island Ithaca. The movie stars Matt Damon as our hero Odysseus. With an ensemble cast including Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Charlize Theron, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, and many others. This promo also features Nolan’s regular cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema discussing the IMAX dream and how they pulled it off – with a few shots we’ve never seen before in other featurettes. Less than one month to go until it’s in theaters worldwide. So excited for it.
