One Hundred Years of Solitude Part 2 has received a new trailer and release date on Netflix. Based on Gabriel García Márquez’s acclaimed novel of the same name, the show was first introduced in 2024.

Part 2’s official synopsis reads, “Following the signing of the armistice, peace still does not reach Macondo. Fearful of Colonel Aureliano Buendía’s threats, the Conservatives plot an assassination attempt that —by a twist of fate— brings Fernanda del Carpio from Bogotá to the town. When she marries Aureliano Segundo, one of the bastard Arcadio’s twin sons, she gives Úrsula Iguarán her first legitimate heirs.
Meanwhile, José Arcadio Segundo, the other twin, will accomplish the patriarch’s wild dreams of connecting Macondo with the world. The railroad’s arrival opens the doors in the banana company, which unleashes the town’s downfall and ultimately fulfills Úrsula Iguarán’s curse: for the lineage condemned to one hundred years of solitude were not granted a second opportunity on earth.”

One Hundred Years of Solitude Part 2 announces August release dates with new trailer
One Hundred Years of Solitude Part 2 will premiere on Netflix on August 5, 2026, with seven episodes. The adaptation will also feature a special Episode 8 as its Grand Finale, arriving on August 26, 2026.
Part 1 also featured a total of eight episodes and introduced viewers to a Macondo shaped by the construction of a utopia and the innocence of its early days. The town gradually began to crumble when Colonel Aureliano Buendía, trapped in the endless cycle of wars, decided to launch an attack.
Part 2 will follow the new generations of the Buendía family and the town’s transformation, as progress paves the way to decay—fulfilling the curse that seals its ultimate fate.
Expressing her excitement over Part 2, director Laura Mora said, “We took the series to another level aesthetically, narratively, and through sound and music to build a much more cinematic and emotional ending. After living in that house and in that town for three years, we felt that closing this journey had to feel just as grand, epic and cinematic.” Mora will direct Episodes 1, 2, 5, 6, and the Grand Finale. Moreover, Carlos Moreno will work on Episodes 3, 4, and 7.
