Before Brendan Fraser gets back to fighting the undead, he will be heading to Mars in the sci-fi filmStarmanfrom director Josh Wakely in his feature-length debut.

Starmanfollows Fraser’svisionary technologist Tom Adams — an architect of the future — who launches a historic expedition to Mars, positioning himself at the forefront of humanity’s next frontier. But when unforeseen events find him millions of miles from Earth, his mission becomes an unexpected and urgent race against time, driven not by survival alone but by love.
The script has been written by Wakely who will produce through Grace: A Storytelling Company with Rebecca Graham and Sight Unseen’s Eddie Vaisman. Batman BeginsandBladewriter David Goyer will also executive produce the film. The project will be presented to buyers during the Cannes film festival.
Fraser is coming off several hits to his career comeback, first with his Academy Award nominated role inThe Whaleand more recently inRental Family. He’ll be seen next in the World War II dramaPressureas US general Dwight D. Eisenhower and then reunite with Rachel Weisz and John Hannah for a fourthMummy, set for release in October 2027.
Starmanwill mark Wakely’s feature directorial debut after writing and directing Netflix’s animated series Beat BugsandMotown Magic.
