She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany has said that her previous criticism of the Walt Disney Company wouldn’t stop her from reprising her Marvel Cinematic Universe role.

The actor portrayed lawyer-turned-superhero Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), in the Disney+ comedy series, which premiered on the streaming platform back in the summer of 2022.
Although the nine-part series left some intriguing plot threads unresolved, a second season is yet to materialise, while Maslany is also notably absent from the confirmed cast lists for Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.
Nevertheless, hopes for more She-Hulk projects were raised earlier this year, when Marvel’s head of television Brad Winderbaum told The Escape Pod that Attorney at Law was “one of our best-performing shows” on Disney+.
He argued there was a disparity between the “general audience” and the “fan response,” the latter of which was broadly critical – albeit, partly due to misogynistic trolling and review-bombing, the likes of which also targeted The Acolyte and Ironheart.
Among general viewers, however, “it just hit,” claimed Winderbaum.
His comments came as a surprise, not only because of the vitriol directed at She-Hulk: Attorney at Law during its release, but also due to a surprising intervention from Maslany herself last summer.
In September 2025, the actor supported a boycott against The Walt Disney Company, in response to late night host Jimmy Kimmel being temporarily suspended from broadcast shortly after the fatal shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Five days after the incident, Kimmel accused supporters of President Donald Trump of “desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them” and of trying to “score political points” from the death.
The comments proved controversial and prompted the ABC network – whose parent company is Disney – to suspend the broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel Live! for several days. This action only caused more upset, however, from Trump opponents who felt it stifled freedom of speech.
As a result, a Disney boycott began in which people cancelled subscriptions to streamers Disney+ and Hulu, as well as sports network ESPN. At this point, Maslany shared an Instagram story encouraging people to “cancel” all three (via Deadline).

The move led some fans to wonder if She-Hulk had officially been cancelled, or if Maslany was distancing herself from the Disney-owned Marvel Studios for the foreseeable future.
In a new interview with Radio Times promoting her Apple TV thriller Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, Maslany clarified that “the character is outside of what I feel like the corporation is doing” – and therefore, she would likely return, if asked.
“I love She Hulk, and I loved what [Attorney at Law creator] Jessica Gao did with her,” she continued. “I feel like it was very loyal to the comics and all of that.”
Maslany added: “If there was a space where it made sense for her to come back… I mean, I don’t know anything, and I do think that the internet will know before I do.”

The apparently high viewership of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law makes the prospect of a return somewhat more plausible, but the big hurdle remains how expensive it is to realise the character using motion-capture CGI.
Production costs for season 1 are reported to have exceeded $200 million, which is an extraordinary amount for a streaming show, no matter how popular.
Ruffalo will reprise his role of Bruce Banner – for the first time since She-Hulk: Attorney at Law – in this summer’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Perhaps he’ll get a line acknowledging his long-absent super-powered cousin and alien son(!).
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is available to stream on Disney+. Sign-up to Disney+ from £5.99 a month.
