More names have been added to the already stacked cast of The God of the Woods, Netflix‘s upcoming thriller series based on Liz Moore’s bestselling novel of the same name.

Stranger Things star Maya Hawke had already previously been announced as starring in the “multi-generational drama”, along with Kerry Condon (Better Call Saul) and Ella Rubin (The Girl from Plainville).
Well, it seems like it’ll be a Stranger Things reunion of sorts as it’s now been announced that Nell Fisher has also joined the cast as central character Barbara Van Laar, who disappears from her family’s summer camp.
Described as an “artistic and headstrong teen with a punk sensibility” and having “the maturity of someone forced to make serious decisions much too early on in life”, it seems like a gritty role for the young actor.

The series is set in the Adirondack Mountains in New York State and “explores the Van Laar family’s dark secrets, class tensions, and the mysterious disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp – in the wake of an earlier family tragedy that may be related”, the synopsis reads.
It continues: “As the past and present collide, the Van Laars’ wealth and influence unravel, revealing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power.”
Other newly confirmed cast members include Damon Gupton (The Big Door Prize), Susannah Perkins (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel), Benjamin Walker (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) and child actor Autumn Molina.

As for who will be playing who, Gupton is set to star as captain in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Denny Hayes, who is acclimatising to working with new colleague Judy Luptack, played by Hawke – the first female investigator in the BCI.
Perkins will star as camp director TJ Hewitt, while Walker will star as wealthy heir and imposing local figure Peter Van Laar III, who is married to Condon’s Alice and together must deal with the fallout from their daughter’s disappearance. Molina will also star as Barbara’s camp bunkmate who tries her hardest to find her.
Moore, who penned the original novel, serves as co-showrunner, writer and executive producer on the series alongside Mindhunter’s Liz Hannah. As of now, a release date for The God of the Woods hasn’t been set but we’re sure it’ll be a talked-about Netflix hit once it lands.
