Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War currently holds a 36% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes from 11 critic reviews. The Prime Video series, by contrast, maintains a significantly higher 80% average Tomatometer across its run. The film, which debuted on Prime Video on May 20, 2026, marks a sharp critical decline for the franchise.

The movie brings back John Krasinski alongside Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly. Sienna Miller joins the cast as MI6 officer Emma Marlow. Andrew Bernstein, who directed episodes of the series, helms the film.

Critics have largely found the transition from series to film underwhelming. Kevin Maher of The Times gave it 1 out of 5, calling it “generic, personality-free and very streaming.” Craig Mathieson of The Age wrote that “Ghost War feels like an awkward translation of the series.” Tania Hussain of Collider noted the film “too often settles for the safest version of itself.”

Several reviewers pointed to a trade-off between spectacle and substance. Monica Yadav of the Hindustan Times wrote that the film “trades the franchise’s mind for muscle.” M.N. Miller of FandomWire stated the movie falls short of the series, “trading intelligence for a generic action spectacle.” Giovanni Lago of Next Best Picture called it “an amalgamation of the best and worst aspects of the series.”

Not all reviews landed negatively, however. Peter Gray of The AU Review gave it 3.5 out of 5. He called it “a smart, engaging extension of a beloved series.” Brandon Zachary of Screen Rant scored it 6 out of 10, writing that it “remains entertaining throughout.” Julian Lytle of RIOTUS described it as “an entertaining watch” but ultimately “empty-calorie” entertainment.

The audience score has not yet been recorded on Rotten Tomatoes.
