World Cup favourites France will hope to avoid becoming Paraguay’s latest victim when they meet in the round of 16 on Saturday night.

The South American nation knocked out Germany on penalties in the last-32 stage after holding the European giants to a draw. Julio Enciso headed them into a first-half lead before Kai Havertz levelled after the break. Jonathan Tah thought he had won it for Die Mannschaft in extra time, only for his goal to be controversially ruled out by VAR.
It was a superb defensive performance from Paraguay, but they will need to be even better at the back as France have hit three goals or more in all four of their World Cup matches.
Les Bleus’ attacking talent have, quite simply, been in electric form in North America. Kylian Mbappe has six goals at this tournament after adding two more to his tally in their 3-0 victory over Sweden in the previous round.
Didier Deschamps’s star-studded team are the hot favourites to progress to the quarter-finals where the winners of this tie will play Canada or Morocco.
