From the creators of Worst Roommate Ever and Worst Ex ever, comes a new iteration on Netflix, shining a light on the people who live right next door.

Worst Neighbour Ever dives into four different cases, each set in what appears to be a close-knit neighbourhood, until arguments spiral into harassment, intimidation and, sometimes, deadly violence.
The first episode of the new series, titled She Finally Snapped, focuses on Shawna Scott and her husband David who move to Kentucky to be closer to her family, when she reconnects with an old family friend – Frances Zaayer.
What began as two friends rekindling their teenage friendship soon turns into behaviour that tears Shawna’s family apart.
But just what did Frances Zaayer do and where is she now? Read on to learn more.
What did Frances Zaayer do?
Frances Zaayer first moved into Shawna Scott’s home while hers was being renovated, and tensions soon began to rise between the women.
Shawna and Zaayer were old friends and they rekindled things when they both moved onto the same street.
Zaayer eventually moved out and things went from bad to worse when they lived opposite one another as “Frances decided that she was going to try to cause problems”, as per Shawna in the documentary.

Police were frequently called to their neighbourhood, with one incident including Shawna calling the authorities after seeing Zaayer topless in her garden. Zaayer also called the police and alleged she was being recorded “every time” she walked outside.
Former Deputy Duana Kidd said in the doc: “I was called to Washington Avenue almost daily, it was over and over all the time.”
In May 2018, as the documentary shows, Zaayer walked across the street and fired a gun at Shawna and her husband David.
Shawna was rushed to hospital with injuries to her face, and David died from his injuries.
Where is Frances Zaayer now?
Zaayer pleaded guilty to murder, second degree assault and first degree wanton endangerment.
She was sentenced to 35 years in prison in 2022, where she remains as of 2026. She will be eligible for parole in 2038.
In the episode, Shawna says: “Honestly, I hope she never gets out. There’s still a fear that’s in the back of my head every day.”
Worst Neighbor in the World is available to watch on Netflix now. Sign up for Netflix from £5.99 a month. Netflix is also available on Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream.
