Prime Video’s Spider-Noir is finally here, and it marks one of Sony’s finest Marvel productions to date.

It’s no secret that, besides the highly acclaimed Spider-Verse animations, the studio has rather struggled to launch its own credible alternative to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
While Tom Hardy’s Venom films did serviceably well at the box office, critics were less than impressed by the recently-concluded trilogy, while other villain-led spin-offs Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter fell flat on their faces.
Fortunately, Spider-Noir is a cut above all of those lacklustre efforts, with Nicolas Cage delivering a stellar turn in the eight-part first season, which may well leave some viewers eager for more.
So, what does the future of Spider-Noir look like? Here’s what we know so far.
Will there be a Spider-Noir season 2?

Prime Video is yet to announce whether Spider-Noir has been renewed for a second season or cancelled, but we’re likely to have a verdict in the coming months.
The series had a (slightly) staggered rollout, debuting on MGM+ in the US a few days earlier than its Prime Video bow internationally, with all eight episodes dropping as a bingeable set.
While Prime Video doesn’t habitually share viewership statistics, it would be worth keeping an eye out for analysis by US-based ratings firm Nielsen, which reports trusted estimates for how streaming shows are performing in North America.
These results, which take a few weeks to process, will offer our best clue as to Spider-Noir’s chances of continuing for season 2, but the creatives behind the show have made clear that they are open to doing more.
Executive producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who also work on Sony’s Spider-Verse animated films, cheekily told The Hollywood Reporter in May 2026: “We are television producers. We’re not gonna say no [to season 2].”
Meanwhile, co-showrunner Oren Uziel explained that the “magical” trait of its private detective premise is that it can host a wide variety of different mysteries.
“All it takes is another client to knock on that door, and then comes a new set of cases, a new set of problems and a new adventure to go on,” he teased. “So [it’s] conceived to be as many seasons as we want to go.”
Who could star in a potential Spider-Noir season 2?

If Spider-Noir is renewed for a second season, it’s safe to assume that Nicolas Cage would reprise the role of Ben Reilly, also known by his vigilante persona The Spider.
If the Spider-Noir ending is any indication, he’d be joined by business partner Janet (Karen Rodriguez) and journalist friend Robbie Robertson (Lamorne Morris) for any future cases.
Besides that core trio, the series could have a largely new cast in a possible second chapter, with several characters – including villains Silvermane (Brendan Gleeson) and Megawatt (Andrew Lewis Caldwell) – being killed off before season 1’s final credits.
Lonnie Lincoln (Abraham Popoola), Cat Hardy (Li Jun Li) and Flint Marko aka Sandman (Jack Huston) do make it out alive, but their respective stories seem to have reached a natural conclusion regardless.
Here’s an overview of the characters that could conceivably feature in Spider-Noir season 2, should it return:
- Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly / The Spider
- Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson
- Karen Rodriguez as Janet Ruiz
- Cary Christopher as Frankie
- Michael Kostroff as Mayor Morris
What could happen in a potential Spider-Noir season 2?
There are been no concrete details yet of what another Spider-Noir season could explore, but co-showrunner Oren Uziel has teased a broad range of possibilities should the series be renewed.
He told SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar): “Whether it’s New York or a different setting, I really feel like this is a great jumping-off point to expand your story.
“Obviously, as time passes from 1933, we’re heading towards not just trouble in the financial markets in New York, but also a geopolitical struggle that would be an amazing canvas for any future storytelling.”
