Aditi Rao Hydari made a graceful and fashion-forward start to her Cannes Film Festival journey this year, serving two distinct style moments that seamlessly balanced effortless Riviera chic with timeless Indian elegance. While the actor embraced relaxed European summer fashion for her first appearance as a L’Oréal Paris ambassador, it was her striking saree look that emerged as the standout fashion statement from her Cannes debut.

Aditi Rao Hydari brings timeless Indian elegance in bespoke JADE saree at Cannes 2026
Stepping onto the French Riviera on May 16, Aditi first shared glimpses of a breezy daytime look that captured the coastal mood of Cannes perfectly. Styled by her long-time collaborator Sanam Ratansi, the actress wore a striped halter-neck maxi dress from The IQ Collection. The relaxed silhouette, inspired by nautical aesthetics, featured bold horizontal stripes and an easy resort-wear sensibility that blended effortlessly with the Mediterranean backdrop.
Accessorised with oversized sunglasses from Maison Éclat and tan leather accents from French label Sessùn, the look leaned into understated luxury. Her beauty aesthetic remained soft and sun-kissed, with makeup artist Coralie Pucci focusing on luminous skin, feathered brows and a soft lip colour, while hairstylist Clotilde Laisne styled her hair in loose beach waves.
However, it was Aditi Rao Hydari’s primary Cannes appearance in a bespoke saree by JADE that truly captured attention across social media and fashion circles. Sharing photos of the look online, the actress added a playful caption that read, “Wearing a saree… the traditional way. Revolutionary, I know”.
Designed by Monica and Karishma of JADE, the custom saree featured a sheer champagne-gold drape adorned with delicate gold leaf and sequin embroidery throughout. The fluid silhouette shimmered subtly under the Riviera sun, creating a look that felt both regal and contemporary. The ensemble was paired with a structured metallic gold sleeveless blouse featuring a sweetheart neckline, adding a modern touch to the otherwise classic drape.
Continuing the regal aesthetic, stylist Sanam Ratansi elevated the ensemble with statement jewellery from Indriya Jewels. A heavy antique gold choker detailed with green emerald drops added richness and contrast to the muted gold palette of the saree.
For the glam, Coralie Pucci opted for a refined matte base, softly defined eyes and a deep berry-toned lip, complementing the elegance of the outfit without overpowering it. Meanwhile, Clotilde Laisne styled Aditi’s hair in a textured low bun with soft face-framing tendrils that enhanced the romantic Riviera mood.
In a festival often dominated by dramatic gowns and couture experiments, Aditi Rao Hydari’s decision to embrace a traditional Indian saree stood out as a confident and elegant celebration of heritage on a global platform. By pairing classic Indian craftsmanship with understated contemporary styling, the actress once again proved why her fashion choices continue to resonate both in India and internationally.
