Avatar: Fire and Ash’s Disney+ streaming release date set
Avatar: Fire and Ash will begin streaming on Disney+ on June 24, 2026.
Sigourney Weaver announced the date onstage during Disney’s Upfront presentation in New York on Tuesday. The move to streaming follows a 196-day theatrical window after the film’s December 19, 2025, release.
The James Cameron-directed sequel became a box office juggernaut during its theatrical run. Avatar: Fire and Ash grossed $1.490 billion worldwide, making it the third film in the franchise to surpass the $1 billion mark. However, it also stands as the lowest-grossing entry in the Avatar series.
The film picks up shortly after the events of Avatar: The Way of Water. Jake and Neytiri’s family grapples with grief while facing a new threat from the Mangkwan. The aggressive Na’vi tribe, also known as the Ash People, is led by the ruthless matriarch Varang.
Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington headline the ensemble cast alongside Weaver. Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin, Bailey Bass, and David Thewlis also star in the film. Cameron directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
Lightstorm Entertainment produced the film, and 20th Century Studios released it theatrically. Before hitting Disney+, Avatar: Fire and Ash launched for digital download on March 31, 2026. The digital release includes behind-the-scenes featurettes for viewers.
Additionally, a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, and DVD release is scheduled for May 19, 2026. The film won Best Visual Effects at the 98th Academy Awards earlier this year. It also earned five Saturn Awards, including Best Science Fiction Film and Best Film Direction.
