FIFA World Cup 2026 is raising the bar this time with something completely new. The tournament will feature a halftime show similar to the Super Bowl for the very first time. It has now been confirmed that BTS, Madonna, and Shakira will headline the massive show.

BTS, Madonna, and Shakira tapped for FIFA World Cup Final’s halftime show
Chris Martin from Coldplay confirmed the news during a teaser reveal. Elmo also appeared in the trailer. The announcement came with several familiar Muppet faces, too. Ms. Piggy, Kermit, and others joined Martin and Elmo while introducing BTS, Madonna, and Shakira as the official co-headliners for the halftime show.
Shakira had already grabbed attention surrounding the FIFA World Cup 2026. Her song “Dai Dai” with Burna Boy is set to be released on May 14. The song has been officially announced as the theme track for the 2026 World Cup.
According to FIFA, proceeds from the halftime show will go to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. FIFA described it as a landmark initiative. The initiative aims to raise $100 million.
The project focuses on improving access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world. A global stage with a global cause behind it. FIFA World Cup 2026 will run from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
The United States, Mexico, and Canada are hosting the tournament. This edition will also feature 48 teams for the very first time. The final is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The tournament still remains the most-watched sporting event globally. Back in 2022, more than 1.4 billion viewers tuned in live. The 2022 FIFA World Cup final was between Argentina and France.
That match ended in dramatic fashion. Argentina defeated France in a penalty shootout after an intense battle in Qatar. Argentina will now enter the 2026 tournament as defending champions.
Lionel Messi is still expected to lead Argentina once again. Many are also wondering if Argentina can defend its title on football’s biggest stage in 2026.
