Charlie Cox gave fans both a reason to celebrate and a reality check about his future as Daredevil during a recent live podcast appearance. The actor revealed what a recent comic book discovery means for the character’s longevity on screen.

Charlie Cox hints Daredevil could continue for years, but movies aren’t his focus
Charlie Cox sees a long future ahead as Matt Murdock. The actor pointed to decades of comic book source material that could fuel the Marvel Television series.
He believes Daredevil: Born Again can continue well beyond its confirmed third season. Cox shared his optimism during a live taping of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. The recording took place recently at the 92nd Street Y.
Cox referenced a recent comic run as evidence that the character has plenty of runway left. “Charles Soule, who is a wonderful comic book writer, just released last year, I think, a new Daredevil run… in which Matt Murdock, I think, is in his late 60s, 70s,” Cox said. He added that Soule sent him the book directly, and after reading it, his reaction landed on a playful note about job security.
“I read it, and it’s so wonderful, it’s beautiful. But I was like, ‘Well, there you go, that buys me another 20 years,’” Cox said of the comic. Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again is currently filming in New York, with set photos revealing Mike Colter, Finn Jones, and Krysten Ritter, signaling a Defenders reunion.
Cox played coy about those photos, responding with a grin when asked directly. He also addressed whether Daredevil might cross over into the Avengers films or a rumored Spider-Man: Brand New Day appearance. “Marvel [has] been kind of clear with me, for now at least, that I’m focusing on the show, that’s our focus,” Cox said of big-screen crossover possibilities.
The actor acknowledged fan enthusiasm for character crossovers within the MCU but kept expectations grounded. “It’s one of the things, obviously, that the fans of the MCU love it when the characters sort of clash, so we’ll see. But right now, I’m certainly focused on our show,” Cox said.
Cox will next star in Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again, currently filming and expected to premiere in 2027.
