It has been reported that a new TV series adaptation of Al Pacino’s classic 1979 film And Justice for All is in the works at Netflix.

The news was first broken by Deadline, with the publication reporting that the streamer is looking to fill the legal drama hole which will be left by The Lincoln Lawyer, which is coming to an end with its upcoming fifth season.
The new series is reportedly being produced by Sony Pictures Television, whose sibling company Columbia Pictures distributed the original film.
It is being written by Jeremy Miller and Dan Cohn (That Was Then), and is described in Deadline’s article as “a gritty look at an idealistic attorney’s flawed life as he struggles to fight a corrupted legal system until he finally snaps”.
Representatives for Netflix and Sony TV declined comment to Deadline for their piece.
1979’s film version of And Justice for All was directed by Norman Jewison and written by Valerie Curtin and Barry Levinson. It follows a lawyer who is forced to defend a judge, while also defending other clients and trying to secure justice.
It starred Pacino, Jack Warden, John Forsythe, Lee Strasberg, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Lahti, Craig T Nelson, Thomas Waites and Sam Levene.
The film is perhaps best-known for the line shouted by Pacino’s character in court, when the judge declares his outburst to be out of order.
He says: “You’re out of order! You’re out of order! The whole trial is out of order! They are out of order!”

It was confirmed last month that The Lincoln Lawyer, which has been releasing new seasons on Netflix since 2022, would be coming to an end, with co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez addressing the news in a joint statement.
The statement said: “All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us. From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion.
“And while it is of course bittersweet, it’s also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future.
“We are immensely grateful to Netflix and A+E Studios for the opportunity to land this plane the right way. But most of all, we are grateful to the fans all around the world for watching and supporting the show. We promise you, we are right now building a final season that will provide the satisfying finale Mickey Haller deserves. We can’t wait to share it with you!”
