This week, Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) and Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) will finally come face-to-face once more in Coronation Street.
Last week, Betsy suffered two strokes in the ITV soap as part of a wider storyline that will explore the devastating, life-altering reality of a non-fatal strangulation on the character, which happened as part of consensual sex between Betsy and Dylan, with both parties believing that the pressure applied was minimal.
Events escalated, however, when, against Betsy’s wishes, her mum, DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicki Myers), reported Dylan for assaulting her daughter to the police, and he is coming under a lot of suspicion and criticism.
Later, Dylan went on to theorise that Betsy had cheated on him with Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) and suggested he was the cause of her medical condition.
Throughout, a struggling Betsy maintained she wanted to see Dylan and did not want the police involved, but her other loved ones were sure to keep Dylan away.
Now, this week, a furious Brody confronts Dylan on the street over the latter’s claims and also makes clear he hopes Betsy presses charges against her boyfriend.
This isn’t the only confrontation that Dylan has, either, when he runs into Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), who proceeds to give him a dressing down and deliver some powerful home truths to Dylan.
In the aftermath, Dylan returns to the hospital to visit Betsy at last and finally accepts full responsibility for what happened and shares his deep remorse and guilt.
However, the moment is interrupted when the police arrive to take Betsy’s statement about what happened – prompting an anxious Dylan to flee the scene.
Is Dylan making his legal predicament worse? And what will Betsy want to do now? Something tells us the likes of Lisa (Vicki Myers) won’t want Dylan getting off easily…

“By consulting extensively with IFAS, the Stroke Association and Safeline, we aimed to handle Betsy’s journey with the care and sensitivity it deserves while sparking a difficult and somewhat contentious conversation that helps raise awareness of the risks involved in partaking in such acts.”
