Devil May Cry season 2 is here, sending suave demon hunter Dante (Johnny Yong Bosch) into more epic battles – including an imminent clash with his wayward twin brother, Vergil (Robbie Daymond).
Based on the Capcom video game of the same name, the first season made a big splash upon launch last year, with series creator Adi Shankar building on his earlier success adapting Konami’s Castlevania (also for Netflix).
The producer might be two-for-two, but he’s not resting on his laurels now, making some lofty statements to press about how the new season of Devil May Cry is a major upgrade on the first instalment.
“Season 2 is just way, way, way bigger in terms of scope and scale,” he told IGN in. March. “So it’s the difference between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. That’s the comp[arison].
“Or Halo 1 and Halo 2, where in terms of just scale and scope, orders of magnitude bigger and larger. And the tone is just completely different on top of that. The tone is very, very different, so it cuts deeper.”
The show has earned praise from gamers for retaining the source material’s tongue-in-cheek humour, sharp style and gothic aesthetic, with producer Shankar being a self-proclaimed super-fan of the franchise.

Kevin Conroy (season 1) and Ian James Corlett (season 2) voice VP Baines
Who is VP Baines? Baines is the vice-president of the United States. He commands the team of mercenaries attempting to hunt down and stop the White Rabbit’s nefarious plans in season 1.
What else has Kevin Conroy been in? This was a posthumous role for Conroy, who sadly passed away from cancer in late 2022. In 2019, he played the character in live-action too, as part of the Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. Devil May Cry season 1 was dedicated to his memory.
