‘The Night That Changes Everything’ may be over in EastEnders, but a series of worrying events are only just beginning for the Albert Square residents.

After being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, an aggressive form of blood cancer, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) decided to delay urgent treatment so that she could support daughter Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams).
Chelsea is experiencing a living nightmare, after Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) accidentally hit her 4-year-old son Jordan (Jahsaiah Williams) with his car. Denise realised that she needed her more than ever before, and didn’t want to cause more stress by disclosing her diagnosis.
The only people who know the truth are Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), the latter accompanying her to the hospital in today’s episode to speak with a consultant. They told Denise that she needed to be admitted for urgent, intense chemotherapy, which would take a week.
Following this, she’d be held in a side ward for three weeks, to ensure that she didn’t contract an infection.

Denise knew that this would mean not seeing Chelsea, and she refused to have the treatment. Jack tried to make a breakthrough, asking whether it was a life or death situation, but she didn’t want to listen.
Meanwhile, Ian sought legal advice from Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff), as the Bridge Street Market gossip shop began to talk about Jordan’s incident.
Mum Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) sparked a new conversation when she revealed that Ian had only had one drink – and the residents began to contemplate whether the ‘legal limit’ for driving was actually safe.
Across the Square, Max Branning (Jake Wood) and Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) announced their engagement to Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier) and Peter Beale (Thomas Law).
They were both stunned with how quick the relationship had moved, and even Cindy began to have doubts. As Max presented her with a new, flashy ring, his phone repeatedly pinged with text messages from Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy).
He rushed over to the car lot to meet her, insisting that they should put their one-night stand behind them and move forward. Priya was mortified, and told him that she hadn’t given it a second thought.

The only reason she’d made contact was to ask him to approve a discount on one of the motors.
Elsewhere, news reached Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) that her vile, racist adoptive grandfather Eddie (Christopher Fairbank) had passed away. She didn’t know how to feel about the news, and nor did her dad George (Colin Salmon), who allowed him to die.
Tensions were running high between George and partner Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington), who had accepted Eddie’s money in exchange for him being allowed to stay at No. 1.

Needing to take his mind off things, he headed to The Boxing Den to try to vent his anger. Mark Fowler (Stephen Aaron-Sipple) was shocked when he challenged him to a sparring, and was shocked when the friendly session turned aggressive.
Mark was forced to defend himself, and accidentally knocked George unconscious.
As viewers will recall, last year he was told that one more fight could kill him due to a traumatic brain injury.
Will George be OK?
