Girls fan-favourite Zosia Mamet has joined the Industry fold as it’s been confirmed that the actress will be starring in the show’s fifth and final season.
The news was broken in a suitably demure way that quickly set social media alight, with a clip posted to the official HBO Instagram showing series star Myha’la teaching Marisa Abela how to say “you’re so f**king classy” in an American accent.
The camera then pans to Mamet, who says: “Okay, you’re so close.” The wording on the screen then confirms that Mamet is joining Industry season 5, also noting: “It’s so f**king classy.”

The post confirms that Mamet will be joining Industry as new character Carmen Dame, a fitness influencer turned wellness tech founder and CEO. As of now, no further details about her character or season 5 have been given but we do know that filming kicks off at the start of August in the UK.
We can only imagine that Dame will play an instrumental role in the arc of the final season. Similarly, in season 3, Kit Harington’s Henry Muck was introduced as the CEO and founder of green energy startup Lumi. The securing of the company’s high-profile IPO was one of the main cruxes of that season, with Muck obviously going on to be a series mainstay.
So, Dame’s story really could go anywhere and whether she’ll be working closely with Harper (Myha’la) or may cross paths with Yasmin (Abela) on her seemingly new career path, we’ll have to wait and see.
The casting news has come as a welcome surprise to many HBO fans though, with Mamet being best known for her starring role in Lena Dunham‘s Girls in which she played the role of Shoshanna Shapiro. Starring alongside the likes of Dunham, Jemima Kirke, Allison Williams and Adam Driver, Mamet’s Shoshanna was often the bubbly relief of the show and many fans revelled in the way her story ended up.
Mamet has gone on to star in The Flight Attendant and The Decameron, having also done voiceover work for the likes of animated shows Star vs the Forces of Evil and StuGo.

Seeing as the fourth season of Industry ended on an especially dark note for the series, with Harper and Yasmin’s friendship all but ruined, it seems likely that fans won’t be able to guess in what direction the fifth season will go in.
Speaking about what she knows going into the final season, Abela told The Hollywood Reporter: “I have to admit, I do know where it goes next season, so this is a hard line to toe. We know that wherever Yasmin ends up at the end of season five will be her final resting place, and of course I would want it to be on the mountaintop somewhere.
“But I also know the show and I don’t know whether that’s possible. I think about Don Draper and how much better it was that he didn’t actually end on top; there was a coda that made it a little spicier.”
