Ade Adepitan is reportedly in advanced talks for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, with reports suggesting ITV are keen to adapt the camp.
If Adepitan were to join the cast, he would be the first contestant to use a wheelchair on the show.
Adepitan contracted polio as an infant, which caused damage to his legs that required him to use a wheelchair.
After moving to the United Kingdom, he became a wheelchair basketball player and was part of the British team that played at the 2004 summer Paralympics.
He went on to become one of the first physically disabled television presenters in the UK, with a career of over 20 years.
A source told The Sun that Adepitan has been in “talks” with I’m A Celebrity, adding: “Producers are currently looking at ways to adapt the camp to make it work for Ade. They think his infectious larger-than-life personality would make him a perfect campmate for the new series.”
A spokesperson for ITV told Radio Times: “Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here are just speculation.”
Campmates with visible and invisible disabilities have taken part in the show in the past, with Paralympic javelin athlete Hollie Arnold having taken part in 2020.
Adepitan is the latest rumoured name for I’m a Celebrity 2026, with Joanna Page, Su-Elise Nash, Nadiya Bychkova and Christopher Dean among the celebrities to be speculated for the line-up.
The Gavin & Stacey star was the most recent famous face to be rumoured, with a source claiming that Page is in “advanced stages of talks” for the programme and “all the signs are looking positive”.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returns to ITV later this year.
