Netflix is set to remove a 2020 crime drama starring Liam Neeson and a DC actor from its library next month. The film follows a Marine-turned-robber who tries to surrender and return the money he stole after falling in love. But corrupt officials try to steal it, leading to fatal consequences.

Mark Williams, known for producing titles such as Ozark and The Accountant, co-produced and directed the film. He also co-wrote its script with Steve Allrich. The film’s cast features Liam Neeson as Tom, Suicide Squad’s Jai Courtney as John, Robert Patrick as Sam, Kate Walsh as Annie, Anthony Ramos as Ramon, and Jeffrey Donovan as Sean, among others.
Honest Thief centers on Tom Dolan, a former US Marine who uses his niche skills to rob banks, stealing more than $9 million without ever being caught. After falling in love with a woman named Annie Wilkins, Tom decides to leave his criminal life behind. In the hope of having an honest life with her, Tom contacts the FBI and offers to surrender and return all the money he stole.
However, when two junior officers, John Nivens and Ramon Hall, arrive to arrest him, they try to take the money for themselves and attempt to kill Tom. But things don’t go according to their plan, as Tom escapes, and they accidentally kill their superior, Agent Baker. Tom then goes into hiding and tries to clear his name while the FBI agents hunt him down.
Honest Thief arrived in theaters on October 16, 2020. It received a less-than-favorable review from the critics, who rated it 41% on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, the general moviegoers’ reviews were more positive, giving it 87%.
On IMDb, over 60K users have rated it 6/10. Most viewers praised the film for its intense action sequences, which align with Neeson’s reputation as an action star, thanks to his Taken franchise. At the box office, the film made approximately $32.6 million worldwide against a reported $30 million budget.
