*Warning – contains major spoilers for all eight episodes of Criminal Record season 2.*

The second season of Criminal Record has now come to an end on Apple TV, and it leaves things in a dark place for Peter Capaldi’s Daniel Hegarty and Cush Jumbo’s June Lenker.
The duo were last seen sitting silently in a bar together, as June drowned her sorrows after her partner Leo (Stephen Campbell Moore) was killed in a car bomb.
Now, of course, fans are wondering whether there will get to see another season of the gritty detective drama, and see how June moves on from this trauma.
Well, it turns out Jumbo wants to see the same thing, as she told Radio Times exclusively that, after reading about Leo’s death in the script, she was left thinking “about how she would go on from that – what would happen next if there was a season 3”.
When her reference to a season 3 was picked up on, Jumbo replied: “I shouldn’t have said that,” and clarified that “I was just saying it in relation to storylines being amazing”.
However, she did add: “But I mean, look, there’s nothing I would love more than to work with this man [Capaldi] for the rest of my life, because he makes me feel young. He talks about me being young all the time.
“And I learn something every day, I learn something when he breathes. But who knows? Let’s see if everybody loves the second season.”
Capaldi then told Jumbo that “it’s so sweet of you to say all that stuff,” before joking, “she says that to all her leading men”.
Jumbo then jokingly mouthed, “I do.”

Jumbo recently spoke with Radio Times at an Apple TV event ahead of the BAFTA TV Awards 2026, and when asked about the potential for a season 3 then, she said: “We would love it, but it’s not up to us!“
