“Some girls go all out looking for one last adventure.” “I will put an end to this.” Sony Pictures Classics has revealed the official US trailer for an indie mystery thriller titled Unidentified, ready for release in limited theaters this summer. Unidentified is the latest feature film from acclaimed Saudi filmmaker Haifaa Al-Mansour, director of Wadjda, Mary Shelley, Nappily Ever After, and The Perfect Candidate before this. It originally premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last year and also played at the Zurich Film Festival but not many other festivals. A grieving mother, fueled by her passion for true crime, seeks answers when a teenage girl is found dead in the desert and the police investigation stalls. “Evil hides best in plain sight.” Uncover the truth in Haifaa Al Mansour’s Unidentified, a gripping Saudi murder mystery starring Mila Al Zahrani and Shafi Al Harthi. There’s not much buzz about this because from the looks of it there’s really not much to see here. Unfortunately looks like a glossy made-for-TV thriller that isn’t worth anyone’s time.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Haifaa Al-Mansour’s film Unidentified, direct from YouTube:

Sparked by the discovery of the lifeless body of a teenage girl in the desert; When no one claims the body, Noelle Al Saffan (Mila Al Zahrani), a newly divorced, true crime aficionado who recently lost a child of her own, gets obsessively involved. Despite a ticking clock that seemingly guarantees the girl’s senseless death will be discarded as a cold case, Noelle is determined to identify the body and uncover the truth. She slowly unravels a mystery entangled within a traditional society in transition, where women are learning to create more space for themselves and to take control of their own destinies. Unidentified, also known as The Unknown, is directed by Saudi filmmaker Haifaa Al-Mansour, director of the films Wadjda, Mary Shelley, Nappily Ever After, and The Perfect Candidate previously, plus other shorts and TV work recently. The screenplay is written by and it’s also produced by Haifaa Al-Mansour and Brad Niemann. This initially premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last year. Sony Classics debuts Al-Mansour Unidentified film in select US theaters starting June 19th, 2026 this summer. For more info, visit their official site. Intrigued?
