Just when it looked like Lucy Logan had regained her footing after her role in Ben Hughes’s death was exposed in Number One Fan, Donna Hughes was quick to remind her who was really in control.
After the pair framed former tabloid talk show host Stewart Jones for holding Lucy hostage in revenge for the death of Donna’s brother – who took his own life after appearing on Stewart’s show – Lucy appeared to be out of the woods.
Donna was satisfied that Lucy had finally taken responsibility for her actions following the release of the incriminating video and her frank admission of guilt. And now Stewart would pay for his role in the tragedy with a lengthy prison sentence.
But Lucy’s relief at returning to the Lucy Logan Live couch was short-lived.
Number One Fan ending explained
Not only had Lucy managed to miraculously salvage her reputation, Donna had also been handed her own segment on the show – and viewers loved her. But things soon took another ugly turn.
After Donna broke the news of Stewart’s sentencing live on air, Lucy briefly referenced the “gaslighting and bullying” she endured while working under him and promised to share her side of the story in full at a later date – a comment that immediately riled Donna.
“You took responsibility. Do not backtrack now,” she said during a heated exchange. “This is the only warning you’re getting. Do not f**k with me.”
But Lucy ignored the warning and had Donna’s contract terminated.
“Do you want things to go back to the way they were before I came along and ruined everything?” she snarled. “I was so moved when you took responsibility for Ben’s death, but it was all just a big Lucy performance, wasn’t it?”
Lucy attempted to backtrack, but Donna cut her off by asking someone named Luke to join them.
But in a horrifying twist, “Luke” was revealed to be Vince – the young man Lucy’s son Jacob had become involved with, who also happened to be Ben’s son.
After manipulating Jacob into believing he was romantically interested in him, Vince roped him into environmental protesting, which eventually took a sinister turn when Jacob agreed to start a fire that left a security guard in a coma from which he may never recover.
“A terrorist attack is a very serious crime,” Donna warned. “The maximum sentence is life imprisonment – even if you are 16, like Jacob.
“I think you know what I’m saying, Lucy.”
And just like that, Lucy was no longer in any doubt about where she stood. One wrong move could destroy Jacob’s life – and, by extension, her own.
While Number One Fan ends here, Lucy’s ordeal is far from over.
