Michael Carrick will want to make the most of his first summer as Manchester United boss – both on the training pitch and in the transfer market.

The Red Devils appointed their former midfielder permanently after his sparkling interim spell, which ended with a third-place finish in the Premier League.

Carrick must now repay their faith and build on the progress made last season in a campaign that will ask more of his squad given their Champions League responsibilities.

That makes a positive pre-season all the more important, even if he will be without some of his star players for a little while after a marathon World Cup campaign.

How to watch Man Utd pre-season on TV

Every game on Man Utd’s 2026 pre-season schedule will be available live on MUTV, which can be watched on TV (Sky channel 418 and Virgin Media channel 526), Smart TV, online, and through the United App.

A year-long MUTV subscription costs £29.99, while it comes free with premium membership, which costs £70 for the 2026/27 season.
