Actor Paramvir Singh Cheema has spoken about a personal experience with a pyramid scheme ahead of the global premiere of The Pyramid Scheme on Prime Video on June 5, 2026.

In the show, Cheema plays Goldy, a young man who joins Jumbolife, a pyramid marketing company, in pursuit of quick wealth, only to find himself entangled in a system that exploits ambition.

Reflecting on his own brush with such a scheme, Cheema said, “Someone in my locality was into this, and I am one of them, joh bol sakte hain, ‘main iska shikar raha hoon.’ (You could say I was one of the victims.) At that time, I was young, must’ve been in my early 20s. A neighbour approached me saying, ‘Param, aise aise hai, tu paise dega aur tujhe paise milenge.’ (Param, this is how it works: you invest money, and you’ll make money in return). When you’re young and don’t have a lot of money, it all sounds very exciting. Aisa lagta tha ki thode paise laga denge, aur baithe baithe paise aa jayenge. (It felt like I could invest a little money and earn money without doing much.) It felt like a great idea at the time. But after a while, that person stopped responding, and I remember thinking, ‘Yaar, yeh kya hai?’ (What is going on here?) When I told my father about it, he just laughed and said, ‘Yaar, tum yeh kya chakkaron mein padh rahe ho!’ (Why are you getting yourself into these kinds of things?) So yes, I’ve actually experienced this world firsthand.”

On his character, Cheema said, “Goldy is very reactive. He reacts to every situation and every emotion around him. Even if someone gives him a look, his immediate thought is, ‘Usne mujhe aise kyu dekha?’ (Why did he look at me like that?) That was the main psyche I wanted to capture. What excited me most was that Goldy gave me the chance to play a side of myself that people haven’t seen much on screen.”

The Pyramid Scheme is produced by The Viral Fever, created by Shreyansh Pandey, directed by Ashish R Shukla and Shreyansh Pandey, and written by Akshendra Mishra. The show stars Paramvir Singh Cheema, Ranvir Shorey, Shekhar Suman, Aanjjan Srivastav, Alfia Jafry, and Ashish Raghava in lead roles, with Akhilendra Mishra, Smita Bansal, Vijay Kumar, Indresh Malik, Ravi Bhel, Sushant Singh, Sonal Jha, and Sadanand Patil in pivotal roles.
