Pedro Pascal tears up at a Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu event
Pedro Pascal recently turned up beside director Jon Favreau as an unannounced guest at the Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu panel at CCXP Mexico.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to bring the action of the acclaimed Disney show to the big screen for the first time. Also starring Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White, this will also be the first major theatrical release from the Star Wars franchise since 2019.
During his appearance, the Fantastic Four star explained how much it meant to him to bring the project to the big screen.
“As soon as I saw this, I knew that it would be a new authorship of a streaming experience,” Pedro Pascal said, “But I always had a dream in my heart that it would be on a big screen because that’s how I was developed as a child. I went to the movie theater so much with my family, and I saw the Star Wars movies on the big screen.”
Following this, Pascal, who appeared on stage wearing a Mexico men’s World Cup 2026 jersey, spoke a few words in Spanish. He got visibly emotional after this. The crowd cheered the actor on when this happened. Pascal blew a kiss to the fans.
During the event, Favreau also explained why this was a crucial entry for expanding the Star Wars universe. “We wanted to introduce these characters to a new audience,” Favreau said, “But for the fans who have been there forever, like [this crowd], we wanted to evolve the relationship. It’s not no longer about the Mandalorian rescuing Grogu. Now Grogu has leveled up. He’s a Mandalorian apprentice… He’s coming into his own, and now he’s discovering and unleashing his abilities.”
The Mandalorian and Grogu premiere on May 22, 2026, in theaters.
