“One habit I developed on set was keeping my focus on one thing at a time,” she explained. “Phones can scatter your attention. So sometimes I journaled or sketched. Sketching helped me concentrate deeply on one object without drifting emotionally from the character.”

Rukmini’s love for stories existed long before she stepped into acting. When asked about her childhood, she immediately recalled the days spent reading Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle comics, laughing as she remembered enacting Supandi for anyone who would watch. “I probably annoyed people by going, ‘Supandi walks here, Supandi looks there!’” she said, painting a picture of a tiny, animated girl performing without even realizing it.

Her comfort watches today reflect her personality and moods. For intense, gripping narratives, she turns to Dark. For pure humour, Derry Girls is her choice. And for warmth, nostalgia, and cinematic affection, Om Shanti Om remains her go-to film. “It pokes fun at the industry with affection, never cynicism. I discover something new every time I watch it,” she said.

As she prepares for upcoming projects like Toxic: A Fairytale for Grownups with Yash and the highly anticipated NTRNeel with Jr NTR, Rukmini’s career enters an exciting new phase.
