Aditya Dhar’s espionage drama Dhurandhar continues it rampageous run across India and overseas. The film has already crossed the Rs 400 crores mark and is expected to become the biggest success of 2025.

Such is the clamour for the film that Mumbai cinemas have begun screening the film from as late as 12:45 am onwards.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh discussed the factors that have contributed to the film’s universal success in spite of the overt violence and the ‘A’ censor certificate. “The roaring success of Dhurandhar can be attributed to a combination of factors that worked big time in its favour. In recent years, audiences have embraced larger-than-life, high-octane action dramas. The violence in Dhurandhar wasn’t a deterrent; on the contrary, it amplified its mass appeal. The film delivered exactly what its target audience wanted: raw intensity, whistle-worthy moments, and seeti-maar confrontations.”

Taran also spotlighted the performances. “Every actor’s performance won immense praise — especially Ranveer Singh, and of course Akshaye Khanna, who is the soul of the film. Be it the electrifying background score, the slick action choreography, or the emotional undercurrent, Dhurandhar ticked all the boxes. The violence felt organic to the narrative, never forced merely for impact.”

The trade guru also highlighted the fact that the success of Dhurandhar was not bolstered by hype alone. “Hype may win you an opening, but content wins you longevity. Dhurandhar is a bona fide blockbuster. In this film, everyone is a Dhurandhar – every actor is a Dhurandhar. Aditya Dhar is a Dhurandhar. Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios is a Dhurandhar. She and her team had the courage to back a film of this scale, and with such conviction.”
