The upcoming spin-off of The Boys, titled Vought Rising, will focus on the franchise’s first set of superheroes, including Stormfront and Soldier Boy, but the prequel series won’t sympathize with their evil actions. With several pop-culture IPs rationalizing their villains’ actions in recent times, Eric Kripke has revealed that he will not take a similar approach with Aya Cash’s character.

Eric Kripke confirms one thing about Stormfront’s Vought Rising arc
During a recent interview with ScreenRant‘s Tatiana Hullender, the showrunner stated that he has no intentions of retconning Stormfront’s motivations in Vought Rising.
“In no way will I ever ask the audience to sympathize with Stormfront. She’s a Nazi, and she sucks,” Kripke said.
Concerns about the show’s creative team making Stormfront a sympathetic character rose when Season 5 Episode 6 of the Prime Video series revealed that there was a romantic dynamic between her and Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy in the past. However, Kripke has since clarified that this will not be the case in the upcoming prequel series.
“Soldier Boy? I think, if it’s teasing anything, it’s teasing that he really had feelings for Clara more than he had originally let on, and that you’ll see a lot of that play out in Vought Rising,” he said, adding, “You’ll understand a little bit more of what Soldier Boy and Bombsight’s relationship is, and why they resent each other, in Vought Rising.”
The veteran writer also noted that watching The Boys is not essential to enjoying its upcoming spin-off. “We always try to hit the right balance, where it provides a little bit of context and some good Easter eggs. But by no means do you have to watch The Boys to enjoy Vought Rising. In fact, we just had some audience testing with some people who had never seen The Boys, and they liked Vought Rising on its own. So, that is for sure the goal,” Kripke noted.
