“That man… that man is dangerous.” Bankhead Productions has revealed the official trailer for the indie horror thriller film titled The Town That Takes, which is the first film directed by actor Britt Bankhead. This chilling mystery film is set for a limited theatrical release starting in July this summer. Blending edge-of-your-seat suspense, supernatural terror, and emotional family drama, the film follows Dean Richardson, a troubled Army veteran attempting to rebuild a relationship with his estranged twelve-year-old son, Wyatt, following the sudden death of his ex-wife. The film is inspired by and perhaps even connected to the mystery of the Roanoke Colony in the 1500s –115 English settlers disappeared without a trace from an island, only leaving the word “Croatoan” carved into a wooden post. This modern times film is about a mystery in a small backwoods town related to the murder of a motel clerk and a fresh disappearance. Starring Britt Bankhead, Miles Mussenden, Grace Patterson, Mike Markoff, and Nico Tirozzi. Inspired by one of America’s oldest unsolved mysteries, the film has suspense, folklore, and supernatural horror in a chilling tale of family, sacrifice, and survival. Not the best trailer – but this does look like a solid small town thriller.

The film follows Dean Richardson, a troubled Army veteran attempting to rebuild a relationship with his estranged twelve-year-old son, Wyatt, following the sudden death of his ex-wife. Their journey takes a terrifying turn when they stop in a remote backwoods town haunted by whispers surrounding the word Croatoan. After a brutal murder leaves Dean as the prime suspect and Wyatt suddenly disappears, he is forced into an uneasy alliance with veteran Detective Douglas O’Shea and rookie Detective St. Clair as a series of unexplained deaths, disappearances, and impossible encounters begin spreading throughout the region. As evidence points toward something far older & more sinister than just a murder investigation, Dean races to uncover the truth behind the Roanoke Legend before an ancient evil claims another victim.
The Town That Takes is directed by the American actor / filmmaker Britt Bankhead, making his feature directorial debut after directing an episode of the “Winchester” series previously (in which he also starred). The screenplay is written by Britt Bankhead and Jon Blaze. Produced by Britt Bankhead & Grace Patterson. This hasn’t premiered at any fests or elsewhere, as far as we know.
