The Twelve is back for season 3, with Sam Neill returning as formidable defence barrister Brett Colby SC.

Titled The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer, the new eight-part season sees Colby pulled into a deeply personal case when he is asked to defend the husband of a lifelong friend, who has been accused of a shocking murder.
As the trial unfolds, it also reopens a mystery from the past, with a 1968 cold case involving the murder of two teenagers coming back into focus.
As ever, the series also follows the 12 jurors selected for the case, whose own histories, secrets and biases shape how they respond to the evidence in court.
The Twelve season 3 features a largely new cast alongside Neill, with Wentworth star Danielle Cormack joining the series, as well as Eryn Jean Norvill, Sarah Peirse and William Zappa.

The Twelve season 3: Cape Rock Killer – what is the drama based on?
The Twelve is based on the Belgian series De Twaalf, created by Bert Van Dael and Sanne Nuyens.
The original Belgian drama focused on 12 jurors who are selected for a murder trial, with the show exploring how their own lives and experiences influence the way they view the case.
The Australian version began with a similar premise, but has since evolved into an anthology, with each season following a new trial and new set of jurors, while Sam Neill’s Brett Colby SC remains the connecting thread.
Season 3, Cape Rock Killer, continues that anthology approach with a fresh murder trial and a new mystery dating back to the 1960s.
The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer will be available to stream on ITVX from Sunday 31 May 2026.
