Australia and Turkey battle it out in their World Cup Group D opener in Vancouver on Sunday morning.

The Socceroos are the favourites to finish bottom of their group this summer as they face tough opposition in Turkey, tournament co-hosts USA, and Paraguay.
Australia, who are managed by former Crystal Palace defender Tony Popovic, are appearing in their sixth consecutive World Cup and they’re looking to better their round of 16 finish four years ago.
While the Aussies are being tipped to finish bottom of Group D, Turkey’s history in the competition suggests they face an uphill task to go deep in the tournament.
Turkey are making just their third World Cup appearance and their first since 2002. They actually finished third in the 2002 edition but they failed to get out of the group on their previous showing back in 1954.
