Taylor Swift has confirmed that she has written and recorded an original song titled ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ for the upcoming Pixar film Toy Story 5. The announcement was made simultaneously by Swift and the filmmakers across their official social media platforms. The song is set for release on June 5, 2025, ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical debut on June 19, 2026. The track is written and produced by Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff.

Toy Story 5 and Taylor Swift join hands for the biggest collab of the year, to drop new song ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’
In her announcement post, Swift said, “It’s a Toy Story. You knew it! My new original song ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 will be yours on June 5th. I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right? You can pre-order now exclusively on my site and catch Toy Story 5 in theatres June 19th.”
The song is rooted in the journey of Jessie, a character whose story began in Toy Story 2 and continues in Toy Story 5. The track also marks a return to Swift’s country roots, blending styles that have defined her career as a songwriter and recording artist.
Director Andrew Stanton said, “It’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable. The song is so deeply connected to ‘Toy Story.’ So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet.”
The announcement followed a series of “TS” billboards, a play on the shared initials of Toy Story and Taylor Swift, which appeared over the weekend in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Toronto, Mexico City, and London. A Toy Story 5-themed countdown on Swift’s official website and on billboards in New York and Los Angeles preceded the formal announcement.
Toy Story 5 is directed by Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton, whose previous credits include WALL•E, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory. The film is co-directed by Kenna Harris and produced by Lindsey Collins, whose credits include Turning Red, WALL•E, and Finding Dory. The original score is composed by Academy Award winner Randy Newman, returning to score his fifth Toy Story feature. The film releases exclusively in theatres in India on June 19, 2026, in English and Hindi.
