Prime Video’s God of War adaptation is on the hunt for a new Kratos following an on-set injury to its star Ryan Hurst.

According to Deadline Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios made the difficult decision to replace Hurst after he suffered a serious injury in late June. The actor reportedly tore his bicep whilst performing a stunt and has subsequently had to undergo surgery.
The recovery time of 4-6 months would have meant that production would be delayed until at least 2027, by which time child actor, Callum Vinson, who is playing the key role of Atreus, might have shot up to the size of a small God himself. Remember the issues Lost had with Walt’s between seasons growth spurts?
Hurst, who is perhaps best known for his role as Opie in Sons of Anarchy, piled on 40lbs worth of muscle to play the iconic Norse God at the heart of Sony’s blockbuster videogame franchise. At least he can rest up knowing that he’s a part of another mythological epic, with Hurst also starring in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey (read our ★★★★★ review here).
