*Warning – contains full spoilers for all eight episodes of Two Weeks in August.*

As Two Weeks in August continues to air new episodes weekly on BBC One, all of the instalments are already available to watch on BBC iPlayer, meaning many viewers will have already seen how he hellish holiday concludes.
The final episodes of the season burns it all down for the group – literally. They find themselves trying to escape their intended island paradise, as wildfires took hold and they struggled to get boats to take them away from the flames.
Meanwhile, they also dealt with each of their personal reckonings, as Dan and Zoe and Solomon and Jess’s marriages faced tests, and Nat and Jacob’s intense friendship came under scrutiny.
But just how did it all come to an end and where did we leave these characters? Read on for everything you need to know about the ending of Two Weeks in August.
Two Weeks in August ending explained: Did Zoe and Solomon get together?

They did. Zoe and Solomon finally kissed in the penultimate episode of the season, and in the finale they were seen planning a future together – leaving their partners when they were back in the UK and starting over.
However, soon after this Solomon got the acting job he had been going for, because the actor they had originally cast wanted to spend more time with his family. He was hugely excited, but after a chat with Avery in which she suggested he never prioritised her, he started to re-think things.
As this was going on, Zoe had a chat with Jess, in which she revealed, Solomon hadn’t split up with his previous partner before he started seeing her. She warned Zoe that a relationship with Solomon meant you had to be the supporting character, and he was always the star.
In their final moments together, Zoe told Solomon to take the acting job, and that they were following different paths. After this, it seemed as though he would be staying with Jess, leaving with her and their family on one boat, with Zoe went in another with her kids.
Whether they could have a future together back in the UK remains to be seen, but for now it appears to have just been a brief holiday fling.
Did Jacob and Will stay together?

They did. Jacob had broken up with Will, but Nat convinced him that he was being a commitment-phobe, and that their co-dependent friendship was getting in the way of their personal growth.
Jacob and Will dived deep into their relationship and their personal concerns, and by the end it seemed as though their future together may be more secure than it had at one point seemed.
What happened between Avery and James?

In the finale, Avery and Nat visited James and Flick at their house. As Nat enquired about their boat which Jacob and Will had found themselves on, Avery spoke with James, and the duo got close.
She led him away from a party that was ongoing, and Nat later found her sat with him on his bed. They were both fully clothed. As Avery left the room, Nat asked if she wanted to tell her what had happened.
Avery simply replied, “no,” leaving us forever uncertain just what did occur. Whatever the case Avery seemed happy, contented and self-assured after this moment.
Did the group get off the island?

They did. Well, all of them but Nat. She remained behind on the island, intending to do up the dilapidated house she had brought, while the others rowed away.
Solomon, Jess and their kids went on one boat, along with Will’s friends, while Will and Jacob went on James and Flick’s yaught. Zoe and her kids went on another boat, while Dan went on his own.

Did Zoe and Dan split up?

They did. Zoe had said she was breaking up with Dan from the third episode, and had sex with Jon in episode 4. Dan had resisted the end of their relationship for some time after this, but when he witnessed Zoe and Solomon kissing, he knew they were done.
They had it out over multiple arguments across the finale, with both admitting they had been lonely in their relationship.
In the end, they ended up in separate rowing boats heading away from the island. Zoe was with their kids, while Dan was in a boat on his own. The two boats came together in the water, and the children asked their parents whether they were still getting divorced.
Zoe replied, “Yes, but we both love you so much.” Dan nodded, now resigned to what needed to happen. They then rowed onwards in their separate boats, drifting steadily apart from one another as the island burned behind them.
